Wat is niacinamide?
Niacinamide -ook wel vitamine B3- is een wateroplosbare vitamine die vlot samenwerkt met stoffen die van nature aanwezig zijn in de huid. Daardoor het ingezet kan worden voor tal van huidkwaaltjes. Het is een erg mild stofje dat goed wordt verdragen door alle huidtypes, zelfs de meest gevoelige. Het mag gerust in meerdere stappen van je verzorgingsroutine zitten: een hogere concentratie zal niet tot irritatie of gevoeligheid leiden. Ook over de combinatie met andere ingrediënten hoef je je geen zorgen te maken. Niacinamide kun je met een gerust hart samen gebruiken met bijvoorbeeld met retinol, acids, antioxidanten of vitamine C.
Waarom is niacinamide goed voor de huid?
- Het voorkomt vochtverlies en een vochtarme huid. Omdat niacinamide de aanmaak van ceramiden en vrije vetzuren (dat zijn onze natuurlijke huidvetten) stimuleert, versterkt het de huidbarrière. Daardoor is je huid beter beschermd tegen schadelijke invloeden van buitenaf én verliest ze ook minder vocht.
- Het heeft een licht exfoliërende werking, waardoor de kans op huidschilfertjes verkleint en je teint gladder en stralender wordt. Ook zullen droogtelijntjes minder opvallen en worden rimpeltjes verzacht.
- Het vermindert zichtbare poriën. Niacinamide voorkomt dat vuil zicht ophoopt, waardoor ook opgerekte en verstopte (en dus zichtbare) poriën voorkomen worden.
- Het vermindert hyperpigmentatie. Uit onderzoek blijkt dat een concentratie van 5 procent niacinamide oppervlakkige pigmentvlekken kan verminderen. Een concentratie van 2 procent of hoger is dan weer effectief om rode vlekken na puistjes tegen te gaan.
- Het reguleert de talgproductie en werkt ontstekingsremmend. Daarom is niacinamide een slimme keuze voor wie last heeft van een acnegevoeligehuid.
Hoe gebruik je het?
Producten met niacinamide kun je aanbrengen na het reinigen van je huid. Het kan verwerkt zitten in je moisturizer of toner. Serums of treatments met een hogere concentratie niacinamide zijn dan weer ideaal als kuur wanneer je last hebt van kwaaltjes zoals zichtbare poriën, een acne-opstoot, een vochtarme huid of een ruwe huidtextuur. Verder kun je niacinamide gerust op de oogzone aanbrengen. Oogproducten met niacinamide voorkomen dehydratatie, verminderen fijne lijntjes en donkere kringen.
